Core Fore Investing - August Results

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

There was very little good news in August. All three portfolios did worse than the Wilshire 5000, which was down 4.9% in the month. The best of the stinkers was portfolio 3, which dropped by 6.2%. Porfolio 2 was the worst down 7.4% while portfolio 1 was down 6.9%. Portfolio 1 is still up 9.1% […]

Core Fore Investing - July Results

Friday, July 30th, 2010

July was a great month for the Wilshire 5000, up 6.5%.
The three portfolios had another good news/bad news kind of month. First the good news. Portfolio 1 was up 8%, outperforming the index by 150 basis points and portfolio 3 was up 8.2%, beating the index by 170 basis points. Additionally, portfolio’s 1 and […]

Core Fore Investing - May Results

Monday, May 31st, 2010

There’s not much to be said about May’s results except they were bad. The Wilshire 5000 was down 8.7% in May erasing all the year’s gains and then some, finishing the month 0.8% in the red year-to-date. All three portfolios did poorly in May with Portfolio Three leading the way, in part, due to Transocean’s […]

The most notable stock in April was TransOcean, whose drilling rig sank in the Gulf of Mexico. The exploratory drilling was on behalf […]

Core Fore Investing 2009 Returns

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I finished up my calculations for 2009 and it was an average year for the 66 stocks that continue trading. They generated a total return of 28% versus 26.5% for the Wilshire 5000. While not terrible, they should do better and have in years past. Next week I’ll have the January returns and will be […]
